Simone Lee
Simone Lee is a multidisciplinary artist creating in Naarm/Melbourne. Spanning across photography, film, sculpture, earth and dirt, Lee’s practice embodies the poetics of space, introspection and relation, foregrounding the overlooked and discarded. Their work seeks to evoke intimate experiences underscored by duration: growth and decay reveal passages of time. Imagery and objects of the mundane are uplifted as they emerge into quiet bodies of home. The works themselves become found (chosen) objects, excavated from the quiet corners of the natural world. Through earthly texture, material and imagery, the familiar and the unfamiliar become intertwined, foraging intimate exchanges between life and self that exist within an ongoing dialogue of re-examination and renewal. When one body decays, another one grows.
