rubyshae45@gmail.comLimestone carving is a physically arduous process, a contest of desire between the stone’s fragile body and my own. This empathetic relationship renders the material an active agent in collaboration.
My practice is always aiming to foreground the powerful forces of passive objects through tender consideration of material- I draw ideas from new materialism, poetry, and erotica.
These alien forms presented here are inspired by the coast I grew up on, where the persisting remnants of other than human things are both visible and penetrate deep into the loamy earth.
