Naomi Milne

My practice observes, encounters and collects defunct materials. Often these selections are informed by a writing practice and a psychological impulse. I am interested in exploring the specific actions of contact, movement and interactions, including ephemeral and unintentional residues. My practice is primarily experimental, reliant on a cycle of trials and error, where I create situations that incorporate a process that allows for contingencies to arise. I capture occurrences between objects, their causes and effects, which generate installation, documentation and sound recordings. The overriding impact is to expose and meditate on material vulnerability and dysfunctionality.
