Mingyuan Zhang

This work consists of hundreds of self-portraits captured using a black-and-white film camera. Through post-processing, each frame is gradually overlaid, forming a continuous strip of images that transition from dark to light in an endless loop. This process of repetition and layering reflects the artist‘s attitude on the repetitiveness of life itself—repetition folds the details of daily existence, eventually fading them into a blank space. Life, composed of these repeated days, forms a rhythmic pattern of dissolution and reappearance. Through this visual expression, the artist visualizes the dissolution and reappearance of individual existence within the repetitive cycles of life.
