I am interested in the boundaries of biology, that which separates one life from another. Our conceptualisations of these systems of distinction seem exact and impermeable; I wish to engage with them as porous and interwoven. My art practice inhabits the threshold between human and natural worlds. Exploring this border region necessitates curiosity and experimentation. I question what materials are capable of in order to determine what I am capable of. This manifests as an exploration of quasi-scientific processes and natural materials, alongside a practice whose foundations lie in traditional art mediums; painting, ceramics, and representation. My methodology and thinking is informed by the writings of Donna Haraway, which promotes the capacity for kin-making through art, as well as the valuable intermingling which occurs in our great terrestrial compost heap.
