Kirra Niner

Borrowing the desire lines from termites, ants and slugs, I create maps of discovery. Representing trajectories of learning, these trails mimic the scribbles of childhood, as they munch through my work.

Using a variety of materials, including paint, wood, felt, and recycled items, my works aim is to play. From this, I have created an imagined playground that wishes to rekindle fragmented memories into the present. This work invites viewers to revisit their childlike tendencies through engaging with their own nostalgic experiences, welcoming back the childish excitement of creativity within play.

Through immersing oneself in these life-sized dioramas, the audience is prompted to peer into a looking glass that unveils the essential nature of childhood.

Creating a curious dialogue between youth and adulthood, and how we are to navigate memory, play and imagination in a serious world.
