Jon Sheppard
My work sits at the intersection of minimalism and hard-edge painting; restrained, simple and subtle.
I use rudimentary materials and mediums to grapple and reify impossible concepts like detachment, absence, potential, vastness and nothingness.
My art alludes to nothingness with flat, delicate colours layered on top of each other to demonstrate the versatility of foundational shapes.
My art quietly asks you to look harder. Repetition of 'the plain' in my work magnifies its presence in the everyday, its presence in my art aims to deconstruct our understanding of what is meaningless and what is significant.
