Emily Yeonsoo Jung
My practice centres on materialising sanctuaries that preserve the present absences, where solace and security intertwine. I re-evaluate what constitutes a safe space for preserving and processing memories, creating vessels that allow sensory memories to separate from the physical self and rise away from the clamour.
Guided by the idea of living like water—to adapt and flow naturally, I explore the conditions required to safeguard and circulate intangible elements like memory and absence. Employing transient qualities of glass, water, fire, and earth, the work captures the trace of absence and flux in materiality, offering a nurturing space imbued with care and the essence of fluidity.
