Aurora Burnett Kuhn

Aurora embraces the unpredictable nature of analogue photography, allowing her work to slow down and harmonize with the darkroom process, which is central to her practice. The textures, dust marks on the negatives, and handprints left on the paper after hours of printing add layers of intimacy to the grainy images of her partner's body. These details intertwine the laborious nature of darkroom work with the beauty of shared intimacy. For this process to work, both the artist and the darkroom must be in sync, much like her relationship with her partner. If either is out of balance, the work simply doesn't come together—it’s a partnership in itself.
