Alannah Smith
My work delves into a personal interplay of childhood and memory, where recollections drift between light and shadow. I am drawn to the fragmentary nature of memory – how it fades, shifts and reshapes over time. Each piece aims to capture these ephemeral moments, evoking the sensation of something once vivid as something now softened. Through the use of light, shadow and layered imagery, I explore how memories are not linear narratives, rather, fractured glimpses, existing in a space between presence and absence. My practice is an ongoing dialogue that seeks to represent the fleeting, fragile essence of our pasts.
