Ghosts inform my art. These ghosts linger as a presence after the experience is gone. These are thoughts, memories, and ideas that become more powerful through layers of distortion and misrepresentation. The experimental foundation for my artwork is photographic, involving long exposures of people moving under unnatural light. These photos inspire my paintings, as they create blurry, narcotic scenes with figures gently implied throughout. In my photography and painting, I’m fascinated by how a relationship between the macabre and the romantic can channel theoretical and figurative ghosts. My practice comes from a place of introspection, from a desire to understand and re-articulate otherwise disorganised thinking and scattered memories into a clearer visual form.
